Time management tips! So much to do, so little time. Can you create more time? Yes! Here’s how in my latest quick fire blog.
- 168 hours per week. Yes really 168 hours per week. How do you spend yours? Doing things you love, want to, need to or should do? The first tip is being clear about how you want to spend your time – Laura Vanderkam, 168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think’ is a great inspiration. Focus on what is important to you.
- Plan – block out time to do the things that are important and fit the rest around.. Also block out time for childcare/family, eating and sleeping. See what time is left after your priorities are in.
- Make it happen – so you have the things you want to do, you’ve put them in a schedule and then what? Time to get real and start following the schedule you’ve set yourself. From personal experience, the following struck me when I did this:
- How can I do things quicker?
- Why am I wasting my time on this?
- I love this! How can I do more?
- Do I really have to do this? Is this important?
- Is this helping me be the person I want to be?
4. Review, learn and repeat – it works!
Review how you got on and see if there is anything to learn./change. Did you manage to spend the time on things you really wanted to and if so how did you feel? If something worked, do it again. Time is a very personal thing. We all have obligations and things we feel we should do, but for me I know that in my 168 hours per week there is a way to ‘create’ more time for the people and things you love.
