Positive Mindset

by kathrynsherratt

Having a positive mindset is hard, especially with Covid. And even without Covid, January is usually a tough month as we seek to move new plans and ideas forward. Motivation can be low and procrastination kicks in. The feelings of it’s all too hard and I’ve tried it before can occur.

Whatever the words we’ve all been there. We really have. We’ve been there when our goals and plans don’t seem to be working out and we feel like giving up.

When this ‘feeling’ strikes, what can you do? Time to wallow? No, but it’s not always easy to pick yourself up and just carry on.

Positive mindset tips

1. You got this

It can sound odd when you’re wondering what’s going on. But really, You Got This. Distinguish between all the great things you’ve done and this temporary dip in energy, passion and commitment. Remember it’s not permanent.

2. Action cures

Doing something is better than doing nothing. It may not be great, you may feel you’re wasting your time but doing something is progress. And it gives you the momentum to keep going.

3. Talk it out

Bottling things up isn’t the answer. Having a friendly, sympathetic and importantly non-judgmental ear of someone who will support, encourage and listen to how you’re feeling really makes a difference. We all have struggles in life and having a support network to cheer us up and on is something to build and nurture. Not everyone will always be there for you but true friends when you go calling will support and put a smile on your face again.

4. Sleep, rest, wake up refreshed.

Tiredness often plays a part in burnout, overwhelm and not knowing what or where to go next. Sometimes walking away and taking a complete break allows a re-charge and a chance to gain a fresh perspective. A time gap often provides the best way to kick start your passion and interest once again.
